Well, Boys’ 1 at IAWAH is almost over and it’s been quite the adventurous week. I spent the first few days in Ottawa doing my ‘normal’ job and the last two I’ve spent here at camp. It’s amazing how time slows down here at camp and days seem to go on way longer than they should. This week was especially interesting as the weather made it unbearably hot most nights. It’s incredible though to watch the ingenuity of people at work. I got to stay in a cabin while another cabin leader got stitches and the boys themselves had arranged the cabin in a way that they could maximize cooling at night, by sleeping on the floor of course. The staff were doing the same thing, just a little more sophisticated, keeping the lights off and the door slightly ajar worked well, especially when coupled with a damp towel hanging in front of a fan. I was incredibly surprised to find the room I shared, much cooler than the hallway and even outdoors.
On a really fun note, our video production team here managed to finish our entire project for the week on time! So proud of the work they did to create a great session video for the campers, and, it was only 4 minutes long. Impressive when you consider that we had probably 6 hours of footage.
So, this week is over, Lindsey and I are now officially less than 100 days from our wedding and the panic is starting to set in. There’s a checklist that has lots of items on it and we’re slowly getting there. This weekend, and every weekend for the next few months will be completely dedicated to wedding prep.
Fun.
