So as my life continues to move me more and more into the world of faith and high school, this week's incident involving a student in Halifax who got suspended for wearing a Christian t shirt has obviously become a topic of conversation. The EFC has released an open letter to the school board superintendent outlining their perspective. I have found their response reasonable and informed and helpful for me as a leader as some of the misunderstandings they outline were actually some of the things I believed to be true in Canada. There are a couple of things that strike me about the whole thing as I look...

On April 22, 2012 Robin Pifer and I announced that I would be transitioning out of my role at Cedarview as Student Ministries Pastor effective May 31st, 2012. To give you all a little more detail, over the last few months Robin and I have been talking a lot about my ministry experience at Cedarview and where I was heading. I have been very clear with Robin that I didn't see myself being a youth pastor forever. As our conversation continued it became clear to both he and I that it was in the best interest of Cedarview that I transition out. Lindsey and I are sad to be leaving the friends...

I am pretty excited about an event coming up in the next couple of weeks we are hosting here at Cedarview. It's called Preach Better Sermons and it's an online event we are streaming here with some incredible speakers. Andy Stanley (North Point), Louie Giglio (Passion Conference), Dan Cathy (Chic-Fil-A) and many more will be sharing the way they prepare their messages. I think this will be a great opportunity for anyone interested to learn and grow in the craft of public speaking. So, show up if you can, it'd be great to see you out.

Pray that God would show up and that the right people would attend and the conversation would be helpful for those who need it.

So, I've been working on a new project with some fellow youth workers here in the city and so far it's been pretty awesome. The whole idea is to try and reshape the way that Christian students operate in schools. The problem has been that too many students think that they are supposed to try and recreate youth group in their school. They found a Christian club and do Bible study and for many, going to their local Christian club is committing social suicide. Or at least taking a hit. For others, a regular weekly commitment to another lunch hour activity is just something they can't do. Youth pastors...

I don't typically talk about software I'm into, but in this case I can't help it. I recently came across a project management tool that is helping me change the way I organize myself. I know, a big statement. I got to the point where I had so many different programs doing somewhat the same thing that I said to myself, I just want to simplify. I want to get rid of all the excess and find something that I will 'actually' use and benefit from. So, I went online and read about Action Method and decided to check it out. It's been a week and a bit and I love it. A couple of cool features...
