Home

Well, the trip is over and I took a bit of a breather from blogging.  I arrived home on Monday afternoon, without my bags.  I had a quick turnaround in Frankfurt that ended up being really quick, I got off my plane from Paris as my flight from Frankfurt started boarding.  Not enough time for my bags to make it to the next plane.  So I got home and waited, I kind of knew that my bags wouldn’t show up though.  Canada has a very different customs system than most countries.  Whenever I come into Canada or leave from Canada to go to the States via Toronto I have to collect my bags and re-check them.  Abroad, they’ll check my stuff right through to my final destination.  Go figure.

Anyway, I got home, spent the evening with Lindsey and my parents.  It  was great, telling stories and trying to remember everything that happened.  One of the things that was really nice was that they had read all my blogs and so it was really easy to talk and show pictures because they knew most of the story already, I just had to fill in extra details and answer questions.  Now I start the process of uploading all the photos to flickr and making sure I am connected to everyone from the team.

I am still processing and hopefully will get the time I need to fully journal everything but I know I’ve come back different than when I left.  If nothing else, my respect and appreciation for our International Workers is fully engaged.  One of my missions is to seek out every retired worker in our congregation and thank them for their dedication and sacrifice.  Even now it’s a bit raw and emotional for me.

God has been good, he has helped me to hear his voice and respect his calling that much more.  I look forward to a bright future with many more trips abroad and a great partnership with all of our international workers.

Here’s the first of many videos from Guinea.
