The move to the city

So I’ve recently moved to the downtown core of the city and it’s great! I love the energy and excitement of living downtown, of the different types of people that are around here but there are a few things I am noticing about what it takes to live here.

The first, you need to be willing to drive. No longer is Wal-Mart or any other large store close by. There’s no room for a big box store downtown so in order to get to some you need to be able to drive.

The second, is the traffic. Man is it crazy. I came through downtown on a wednesday night at 10pm and I still had to wait through three red lights on the same intersection, just to get through!! I tell ya, I won’t be going that route any time soon.

I am excited about the variety that living downtown offers though. One of the things I’ve decided to do, in the spirit of Julie & Julia is to write my reviews of food. Only in my case, I’m just going to eat it, forget about the work of cooking it. There are a number of bistros, pubs and restaurants in the area and I am anxious to try them out and rate them based on my very sophisticated set of standards. Stay tuned for more in the future.
